Project 2: Divergent Design

Brainstorming Features:

  1. Time Capsule: Allow patients to store messages/./images/tokens to be sent out to family members after they pass.
  2. Patient-controlled messaging: Patients can control if family members can respond to their messages or not.
  3. Digital Diary: Patients can use the app as a journal and mood tracker, which they can share to the public and/or family members. Voice journaling can also be an option for accessibility.
  4. Digital Tokens: Family members can send digital tokens like flowers or cards to the patients to show that they are thinking of them when they can’t be there in person.
  5. Educational resource: When the app starts up, family members and patients get a walk through of what to expect while in palliative care.
  6. Set preferences: Patients can set their preferences in the app of how much contact they would like, what cultural/religious customs their care providers should abide by, etc.
  7. Virtual support groups: A forum or safe space to connect and chat with other patients that are going through the same thing.
  8. Digital shrines: a method for families to share their favourite memories of the patient, assembled into a digital shrine after the patient passes. Could be viewed in AR ?
  9. AI-chatbot companion: An AI-powered digital support companion for when family members aren’t around, or if patients don’t have anyone and are alone.
  10. Selective Shared Calendar: Patients control visit and care schedule edits.
  11. Secure External Email: Send secure emails to non-app contacts with response control.
  12. Timed Content Deletion: Auto-delete tagged contents after prolonged app inactivity.
  13. Legacy Messaging: Send preset messages if the app remains unauthorized for set days.
  14. Local Patient Chat: Connect with nearby patients for casual conversations.
  15. Patient-Curated Wish List: Family and friends can view and fulfill patient's wishes.
  16. Future-Open Time Capsule: Store messages and media for later revelation.
  17. Personal Video Journal: Create and share video diary entries.
  18. Care Tracking Surveys: Begin and Regular surveys to monitor patients’ habits and comfort zoom of using the app.”
  19. Anonymous Community Board: Share thoughts anonymously with fellow patients.
  20. Interactive Caregiving Guide: Dynamic tips and strategies for caregivers.
  21. Agent Assist: This feature allows authorized agents (family members or caregivers) to support the patient's app registration and usage, ensuring seamless access for those with physical limitations.
  22. Voice Mode: Designed for vision-impaired users, this mode offers voice navigation and speech-to-text capabilities, enabling patients to interact with the app using vocal commands and audio feedback.
  23. Wellness Survey: Upon account setup, this survey captures the patient's current health condition and preferences, ensuring personalized care and communication options tailored to their needs.
  24. Health Synopsis: A feature that generates brief, comprehensive reports about the patient's condition and progress, which can be easily shared with healthcare professionals for informed care.
  25. Advanced Directives Planner: This tool enables patients to set up and customize their advanced care wishes and directives, ensuring their choices are respected and known to all relevant parties.
  26. Memory Lane: A digital scrapbook where patients and families can upload and share photos, videos, and notes, creating a shared space for memories and emotional support.
  27. Medication Tracker: Keeps track of the patient's medication schedule, sends reminders, and allows for updates on medication effectiveness and side effects, improving treatment adherence and reporting.
  28. Emotional Wellness Toolkit: Offers resources like guided meditation, relaxation techniques, and access to counseling services, supporting the emotional well-being of patients and their families.
  29. Family Forum: A secure, private space for family members to communicate, plan, and share updates, fostering a supportive community around the patient.
  30. Accessible Design Options: Customizable text sizes, color contrasts, and easy navigation features to make the app more accessible for users with various disabilities.
