My impressions on some of my peers' apps
"Assist" pitch
I understand that finding a way to incentivize people to ask for help has been a problem since forever. However, I don't really understand how this app solves the obstacles that already exist:
- "People can be rejected, but it doesn't feel personal": sometimes, getting rejected by a group is even worse. If you had asked a single person for help and they denied, it's just one person. Now, an entire group could mess with one's sense of belonging.
- People will be rejected: what will propel people into offering help? Everyone's life is busy, and I don't think they will be constantly checking if one of their friends needs help.
BlueHaven pitch
I think this is a really cool idea! Gaining other people's intuitions has helped me a lot over the years. I would definitely use this app.
WasteWise pitch
I think this is a good idea in theory, so I have a couple of questions regarding the app:
- Will people really open their phones to see where to dispose something they are holding? What if they are convinced that waiting for a bin is going to be faster than checking their phones?
- What are the consequences of bringing lots of people to a single disposable place?
Overall, I thought that trying to solve this problem is quite noble, and I'd love to use it.
