Some Thoughts on WasteWise

I am genuinely excited about your project aiming to assist people in correctly sorting and disposing of waste. The concept of guiding individuals to the appropriate bins for their waste types is very useful and practical(at least for me!).

Your project instantly reminded me of a personal experience I had with disposing of used batteries, which belong in hazardous waste bins. Despite my best efforts, it was quite a challenge to locate the appropriate disposal site. A bit more research was required to find a potential location, and once identified, it was even more challenging to locate the bin physically. I think this experience points out a common issue on our campus and likely in many other places – the limited availability and visibility of bins for specific types of waste like hazardous materials or large items such as furniture.

This leads me to see great potential in expanding the scope of your project to address these particular types of waste disposal. There's a clear need for solutions that make it easier for individuals to identify and access disposal sites for hazardous materials, larger waste items and so on. Your project could play a pivotal role in filling this gap.

One critical aspect to consider is the actual implementation of locating these bins. A high-tech approach, such as equipping bins with ID cards for tracking and sensing, is an intriguing idea. It could revolutionize how we interact with waste disposal infrastructures. However, this might introduce complexities in terms of cost and maintenance, and also hardware may good not be of concern on a sofware design class ><. Alternatively, a community-driven solution like a public forum where users can share updates or ask questions about the locations of disposal bins could foster a sense of community engagement and collective responsibility.

I am excited about the prospects of your project and its potential to make a significant impact on our waste disposal habits. Incorporating solutions for less common but equally important types of waste, like hazardous materials or large items, alongside a practical approach to locating disposal sites, could significantly enhance the effectiveness of your initiative.

Looking forward to seeing your project evolve and make a tangible difference in our community's waste management practices.
